The Wilddogs in this album are part of a project to re-introduce this theatened species back into suitable areas. The dominant male and female both wear tracking collars in order for researchers to monitor their movements.
The pack at the time of my visit consisted of 13 adults and 13 puppies that were born in April 2009, being 4.5 months at the time of these images. Their den is close to the border of Botswana, and South Africa.
During my visit, the puppies had begun to accompany the pack on hunting trips and during this time they travelled between the border of Zimbabwe in the North to South Africa in the South . (One puppy was killed on the road near the South Africa border post on the day before I left.)
